Wow! This trip to India has been amazing and life changing
for both the foreign mission team and the people of India. To hear the gospel
preached multiple times every day to a mixture of hundreds of Christians and
non-believers, to witness people coming forth to give their lives to Jesus, and
to hear the testimonies of people here who strive in the faith has been
monumental! May His word continue to go forth and change lives! Praise be to
God! Hallelujah!
On Saturday afternoon, January 19th, we got the
opportunity to minister to 218 people in a medical clinic about 40 minutes away
from Dr. Kumar’s home. It was awesome to be able to be the hands and feet of
Jesus to these precious people! The free medical camp was held in a Hindu Temple
because Dr. Kumar is so respected in India and has so many connections. There
were many needs met, both physically and spiritually. These destitute people,
unable to pay for visit to a doctor, were blessed by Dr. Kumar’s understanding,
intelligence, compassion, and free medical care. Their great appreciation was
expressed through many words of thanks in the Telegu language, tears of happiness
shed, and smiles exchanged with the medical team.
Under the guidance and instruction of Dr. Kumar, the nurses
received their orders to give a cyanocobalamine (Vitamin B12) injection, test
blood sugar, or to take blood pressure on the long line of patients. Wound care was provided, antibiotics were
given, and supplemental vitamins handed out. The patients were very thankful
for the medical help and prayers during their time in the clinic.
After being
treated by Dr. Kumar and the nurses, they were prayed over by ministers, who
laid hands on them and shared the gospel. The caring touch and universal smile
went a long way!
A plethora of medical conditions were presented, some of the
most memorable were a viper snake bite on an elderly man’s ankle that had been left
untreated for four years. The flesh was eaten away almost to the bone. Another
person presented with a maimed foot, as he had been in an automobile accident,
that had also been untreated for over four years as well. Others presented with
the multiple co-morbidities of cardiomegaly, status asthmaticus, severe anemia,
and possible renal failure. This sweet gentleman could barely stand due to
weakness and struggled with every breath. Some had symptoms associated with HIV/AIDS,
malaria, typhoid fever, urinary tract infections, and symptoms associated with
uterine cancer. Many of the elderly presented with arthritis of the hands,
legs, and backs. Aches and pains associated with scoliosis, kyphosis, and other
limiting conditions were treated by Dr. Kumar to the best of his ability. Many
presented with symptoms of hypertension and hyperglycemia, some with extremely
high readings in the upper 500 range. Hundreds received injections of Vitamin
B12 and antibiotic injections.
We heard the testimony of a person who had been carried to
the medical clinics and after prayer by the medical team she was able to walk
away with no help, her bilaterally injured hips completely healed. There was
another lady who had such a severe ear infections that it was required that she
have an extensive corrective surgery, but after prayer her pain and symptoms
were gone, she was completely healed! These are just a few of many amazing
testimonies shared throughout the mission trip.

Economy and location location are too heavy variables that should be considered when averaging out annual registered nurse salaries. The cost of living in each state as well as that state’s economy will either raise the average salary or lower the average salary. Some states that have shown to have a higher registered nurse salary are: Delaware, California, Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Oregon and Rhode Island. Each of these states showed on average that their registered nurse salaries were higher than $50,000 per year. Broken down into hourly pay, $50,000 per year is about $24 per hour.
