THE FOREIGN MISSION MONTHLY NEWS UPDATE FOR MAY 2018

Guatemala

There was a trip to Guatemala in late April. While it was not a Foreign Mission  financially supported trip, the Foreign Mission is thankful for the the Ashburnham ALC confirmation class, Pastor, Parents and FM Youth Leader who worked so hard both before and during this trip. We thank God for protecting them, and for allowing them to have this wonderful time together!   They served in the ALC of Guatemala churches,  and joined our brothers and sisters in Guatemala in outreach to hospitals, and in the villages.

They also served by building block walls on the second floor of the Juan Ponce church, and in dental clinics.  We surely are thankful for the Guatemalan dentists who gave of themselves to serve as well!

All accounts from both those in Guatemala and those that went, indicate that they all felt very much blessed! It is always a special joy for to see our Christian youth in action!  Remember, youth are not only our FUTURE CHURCH, they are the CHURCH TODAY! We pray and we trust that this trip has given them additional strength and inspiration that will have lasting affect on their lives.

Thank you Ashburnham ALC, your love for the Guatemalan people is surely noticed and appreciated!

South Africa

We visited a place called Mafikeng whe where we did house to house visits share the Gospel with people and invited them to the hearing of the Word no Sunday,  Seen above are those who responded to the invitation.

Bishop L. Mphahlele

Note from FM: It is always a joy to see the people we work with, hard at the work of evangelizing and preaching when we are not with them!  This shows that their work in the mission field is not a show for foreign eyes, but is placed on their heart by God who so loves the world that He gave His only begotten Son!

We are so thank you to you ALC foreign mission for helping the ministry here even from the start of pionering this church. We can't forget the first time that the team was been here through Pastor Colin Kinnunen, that was our wedding day at the year 2007. Since then, you've come here every year with different team. You've help us so much for everything. For giving bibles, helping the church building, for the vihicle, most specially for sharing the word about the gospel.

Meetings: The FM Board had another  phone conference meeting in April.   It is our habit to hold a conference call after every official FM mission trip to hear about the trip.  This better prepares the entire board to be able to make decisions about all the countries in the world we work in, rather than just the countries they go to themselves.   During this meeting we were pleased to hear a report on the recent mission trips to Guatemala, Ghana, and Togo.   During these calls, Pastors who travel with us are invited to call in and speak, even if they are not on the FM Board!  Bruce Estola and Chuck Korhonen were able to call in, and it was wonderful to hear from them and to receive their insights!

> Additional church building work has taken place on several churches around the world.  We are thankful to help a little where we can through funds specifically donated for church building assistance.

The Foreign Mission fully understands that nothing can be accomplished except that God through His Holy Spirit would move His children to help in their individual capacity.  We certainly give all Honor, Praise, and Glory to God.  Items are put here only so you can see the various ways that you can help in the Lord's Vineyard, even if you cannot leave your home! Prayer is of top importance of course!
O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Psalm 107:1

                               Upcoming Trips Update

1) Philippines… We ask for prayers for this trip taking place in May.   In addition to the Preaching and Seminars to be held on this trip, we are thankful that a dentist from Guatemala will be along on this trip in order to help those the team comes across that really need dental care, but cannot afford it.

2) Guatemala… The annual ALC Guatemala convention will be help on June 16 and 17. There is a group of ALC members from the USA that will be attending this convention to enjoy this time together with the Children of God in Guatemala.

Please pray for all of these trips, that the Word will be preached, taught, and received in all Truth and purity!

Note:  With these two trips, our foreign travel season is mostly over.  During the summer we travel to the convention, visit churches, plan for the next round of trips, prayerfully receive and be good stewards of funds, and prepare for our fall FM annual meeting which is where we plan our travels for the months ahead.  As always, we really need your prayers and input, so that we go forward, not in our own will or wisdom, but with the leading and guidance of God through His Holy Spirit!

Top 5 List

Church building fund:  We have a small specially donated church completion fund set up.   So far several church roofs have been completed.  The FM believes it best for the local congregations to put their own prayers, sweat, and treasure into their own church so that each congregant takes personal interest in the church.   We do enjoy helping such congregations finish their building, hence the fund.

Emergency Medical Fund:  This fund is currently out of money.  It is so nice to have some funds available in the event a child or some other church member in our churches abroad is met with sickness or accident.  This fund has helped so many in the last several years.   We are so thankful to be able to occasionally help when the funds allow.

The Bible Fund; we get many requests. It is such a blessing to give the WORD of LIFE! Click here to donate.

 Prayer section:

>  Pray for our upcoming annual ALC convention to be held in the Tri Cities, WA in July

> Continue to pray for the persecuted Christians around the world.  This problem is a bad as ever, it is just that we are so isolated from it, it is hard to remember.

> Pray for Godly Leaders world wide to come forth, both in the churches and in the governments.

> Pray that riches would not lead people to lose sight of God's Word and provisions,  or that poverty would not lead them to despair.
