During the end of February and the beginning of March, The Foreign Mission had a team in Ghana and Togo! Pastors Ansten Tretten and Pastor Bob Maki joined Pastor Frank Famiyeh and conducted Pastors Seminars for many days in both of these West African countries.
Comments on the Seminars from Pastor Devigan:
By God's grace ,the seminar in Togo has come to the end last week Saturday. On Sunday we had a joint church service. The seminar was very wonderful with the teachings. Everyone appreciated the teachings on the Epistles of Paul to the Romans. Wonderful teachings from Bob, Ansten and Frank. Also the women sessions with Julie and Hannah were wonderful too.
Julie Matson and Hannah Hendrickson taught the women and Sunday School teachers. Our group worked fully as a team, each doing the tasks that are within their place in God's Kingdom!
Bonding with the people we come in contact with is so important to mission work. People need to know how much we care! We desire that we not hinder their hearing of God's Word through His Spirit.
News From the Field March Update
Kenya
Note: The below is in reference to one of the 3 churches (picture) that we are finishing in Kenya this month thanks to the donation of a dear friend of the FM from Scandinavia.
Dear beloved brother,
We greet you in Jesus name, today i have attached pictures, as you seen we are working tirelessly to finish the church so God bless all the donors. We are removing stones and chipping, it is very hard and expensive and busying trees and posts. Now i am very happy by next week is going to be completed.
God bless you all keep on praying the many churches and remember the prayer request of the church of Nairobi.

Below is another example of what can happen when a congregation truly desires a place to worship. The two pictures Julie took are of the same exact place from last year to this year. This congregation in Togo did their part and they were helped with earmarked funds through the Foreign Mission. This is a very nicely built house of worship suitable to their very hot conditions.
Guatemala
A mission trip to Guatemala is currently underway. The Firm Foundations Christian School in Battle Ground, WA asked several years ago if they could take a school trip with the FM. Well, that trip is finally happening. There are 21 from the school including chaperones. The FM and the ALC Guatemala is making sure they are staying busy doing various projects. Scott Niemitalo is also there doing preaching along with our Guatemalan preachers.
Above is a picture of a Tuesday church service in Piedras Azules and below is of the house they built for a poor family. (one of several projects they did!)
Other Highlights of the Month
* Bibles were sent to Pakistan, Liberia, Ghana and Togo. (Bible Fund)
* The FM's Emergency Medical fund helped 3 people around the world.
* The FM received special donations for A/C Units for the Guatemalan Pastor Giovani and a partial for Ryan (need additional)
* The Ashburnham ALC donated through the FM, a van to Pastor Bert in the Philippines.
* The Weekly Diner is being sent around the world each Tuesday. The current articles are an ongoing study of Jesus Christ in every book of the Bible.
* The Foreign Mission fully understands that nothing can be accomplished except that God through His Holy Spirit would move His children to help in their individual capacity. We certainly give all Honor, Praise, and Glory to God. Items are put here only so you can see the various ways that you can help in the Lord's Vineyard, even if you cannot leave your home! Prayer is of top importance of course!

> A team of 6 will be leaving for Haiti next week Lord willing. There is much Voodoo, devil worship, financial hardship, and much sickness there. We surely need your prayers.
> Please pray for the many orphaned children around the world. Food and clothing are something that we to often take for granted, but it is a real issue in many places. We are accepting child sponsorship for at least 3 children's homes currently.
> Pray that God through HIs Holy Spirit will work in the hearts of the people in West Africa, Guatemala, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya and other places the Foreign Mission has recently visited.
Pray also that the leadership that was in the seminars held in each location was able to grasp more and more of the doctrine of Justification by Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and to believe it for the salvation of their souls. Pray that they would be able to proclaim the saving gospel from their own pulpits each time they preach.

Pastor Bob Maki and Mark Sunnarborg as well as Frank Famiyeh were serving in South Africa in January.
The people of the United Lutheran Church of South Africa asked that we pray for them. Let us pray! Eternal, Almighty Father we come in the name if thy son Jesus lifting up the United Lutheran Church of South Africa. We ask for Thee to continue to bless each one granting them strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow. Faith each day to walk by and faith that is pleasing onto Thee. We know that Thou alone are faithful in all that Thou will and has done. We ask this in Jesus name Amen! Please continue to pray for the people of South Africa. Bob and Mark and others afternoon service in Magaliesburg in the morning we visited several homes. Sharing the word of God these people kept following us from home to home and then to this place for the afternoon service they were hungering and thirsting after righteousness. My prayer is the word of God spoken would feed their undying soul and they would be filled to over flowing so others would see and come to know of the hope that lies within them.

Picture at church was a weekday afternoon service where over 20 showed up to hear the word of God spoken. Service was held in the Vleikop church.
News From the Field February Update
South Africa
God's Peace ! Greetings to you, God has mightily used the three servants who visited South Africa , We visited many houses and share with them the Gospels, we conducted Bible studies and preached in Churches on Sundays, The two days seminar for the first time was conducted at Ikageng at Rustenburg where more than 26 delegates attended, The Theme of the Seminar was so important to the souls of the leaders and Pastors : The Work of the Holy Spirit in Salvation, personally I was so revived in this Seminar.
Greetings to you all in the most Precious name of Our Lord and Redeemer JESUS CHRIST. GRACE, MERCY AND THE EVERLASTING PEACE OF OUR LORD BE WITH YOU ALL.
Its a pleasure to report you the faithfulness of our Lord during our visit to the tribal area . The LORD has been doing wonderful things in that area. The response from the tribal pastors is overwhelming. In fact we have kept the number to 20 only, in order to keep our expenses within the budget. The pastors are very much exited to know THE WORDS OF GOD, taught in systematically. We have conducted the sessions right from Morning 10.00AM to 5.00 PM evening.
What we observed was , people are ready to know the scriptures if somebody is presenting them systematically( Black Board teaching).The missing element in the Churches is Teaching The Word. Apostle Paul Exhorted Timothy quite a number of times in the pastoral epistles about the TEACHING. We started teaching the overview of Old Testament and New Testament. Latter comes to the difference between the OLD COVENANT and the NEW COVENANT i.e THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE LAW AND THE GRACE. To understand this important truth, I am just surveying both the testaments.
Your Prayers and the support enabling this little effort to carry out.As i have been informing you from the beginning , the necessity of training the pastors in this spiritually corrupt Christendom .There is less emphasis on the GOD'S WORD,BUT MORE ON THE EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCES.
There is an urgent requirement at the tribal area. As the pastors are not having chairs to sit ,they are sitting on the floor. We need 20 chairs for the pastors to sit and take notes.It will cost around Rs 10,000/-( 166 Dollars).If it is possible for the Board to support , it will be comfortable to them.
Continue to Pray for the program for His Glory and for the Benefit of the Churches.

Pakistan
The FM gets a lot of emails from Pakistan… below is one of many!
Hi Brother Bob Maki, God's Peace be with you We thanks God our Mission work is growing very fast in different places in Pakistan. We have desire that God more increase this work.
We are continuing praying for you and for your all trips in the worldwide. Brother I request you please send a Missionary to Pakistan.
Recently we visited the village of Multan and we attend there a Gospel service among kilns point people. they are laboring very hard there and all they are bricks makers. they totally illiterate people. no body want to study their children and there is no education center. we preach among them and also prepare for them food. All people were so happy when they heard the Word of God. Please make plan every year trip in Pakistan. I was introduced to the ALC from 2012.
Please make plan to invite me to meet with our beloved Brother John Ruotsala. It is my desire that I meet to him in any country of your Foreign Mission God bless you Your Brother, Pastor John F. (Mission work in Pakistan )

Bwana Asifiwe - Praise the Lord!
A mission team including Pastor Joel Baker and Pastor Frank Famiyeh (from Ghana), John, as well as a team of several youth, worked in many different ways to share the Gospel and the Love of Christ in Kenya. Many of the people sent their greeting "Tell all the Christians back home that we are praying for them, and we request they please remember us in prayer" This photo was taken at a convention in Kakamega. There were people from many countries and tribes.

A dear sister gave a donation for a motorbike recently. Although there are several areas that could benefit we asked that a letter would be written to explain why the need is so great in this particular area. This was the response:
Dear John, God's peace! . My churches in my elgon areas need a motorbike for my region pastor Hannington kwemoi.He visits the five churches which are 15 or more kilometres apart. Many times he is forced to go every Friday and come back home on the next Monday . He foots and denies him to be at home on time.
The motorbike will make him visit the churches easily and be back home for the family. It will be a blessing to our ministry in that the administration exercise will be made easy and communication
This will increase the number of visit a year and give room to many revival meeting in reaching the lost for Christ.
It is my prayer that you will prayerfully consider our request. We also pray that God will lay the heart to assist our ministry. God's blessings. Pastor Timothy

India
Dear Beloved Brother In Christ, Gods Peace.
Warm Greetings.Yes Sir, I have started the Bible Classes for the tribals. By the Grace of God I was able to deal three issues of the Gospel. First one is KNOWING CHRIST. Second one is KNOWING THE WORD. Third one is KNOWING THE MINISTRY. By the Grace of The Lord, It went well.
Kindly remember this ministry as a priority in your prayers. As per your suggestion two such classes will be held at Injaram too, in the coming months. Slowly we need to conduct on monthly basis.
Great to be part of this neglected ministry. I pray that the LORD will bring revival. Once the people come back to the True WORD Of God, the rest will be accomplished by the WORD.

Today I am happy and blessed to write to you in Jesus name! I hope by God's power you and your team you reach safely in your country U.S.A. All of us here we doing fine. Man of God, all Kisii Churches they praying for you that God will stand with strongly through the the Word He has given you, as you preach a wonderful and a blessing gospel to us. I am praying that God help us to arrange for you a big conference!!!, here at marina town Center at our Church. Please pray for that conference. The Foreign Mission is very pleased to be able to send Pastor Bob Maki, along with Carl Aho and Pastor Frank Famiyeh to the annual ALC convention held in Nigeria this month.
There are 23 Apostolic Lutheran Churches there, most of which were planted back in the very first days of mission work within our church. (1960’s) Many years had passed since regular trips have been made to Nigeria.
We pray that this trip will remind many folks of those days that Pastor Andrew Michelson and Pastor Elmer Yliniemi along with their family members were there preaching Justification by Faith solely in Christ Jesus our Lord! O that many people all around the world would yet desire to hear of Jesus Christ and Him Crucified!
We also want to remember Philip and Niaomi Johnson who were very instrumental in the work in Nigeria. Sadly Philip passed away in a car accident as he selflessly served the Lord in that country.
